BIHC Partners with Strathmore University
The Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC) and Strathmore University (SU)- School of Tourism and Hospitality signed an Memorandum of Understanding on 25th September 2020 at Strathmore University Nairobi, Kenya. This exciting new partnership provides for a number of areas of collaboration, intended at improving the level of Hospitality education and training in Kenya and the region.
Progression Agreement
This partnership allows BIHC Swiss-Diploma in Hotel Management graduates to progress their studies at SU and attain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management for a further two academic years. Both BIHC and SU are renowned for their World Class study programs, particularly in practical training and business management studies respectively allowing students undertaking the 4-year program to gain a holistic understanding of the Hospitality industry.
Internship Programs
This MOU grants top SU students the opportunity to undertake internship programs at the Boma Hotels in Nairobi and Eldoret. The students will be taken through holistic training in F&B service, as well as Rooms Division departments, such as Front Office, Housekeeping and Sales & Marketing.
Professional Hospitality Development Program
BIHC and SU are working on a framework to train and retrain professionals already working in the industry. These training programs would include hands-on practical training, as well as management and administrative courses, including Cost Control, Revenue Management, Yield Management, Leadership, among others. These programs also allow for faculty and staff development at both BIHC and SU.
Research and Development
BIHC and SU have a Pan African agenda that seeks to improve the outlook of the Hospitality industry in the region through collaboration on various research projects.
Strathmore University adds to our existing partnership with the Business and Hotel Management School in Lucerne, Switzerland and are now in advanced discussions for a Progression Agreement with Taylor’s University in Malaysia.
